Overview
A military transport aircraft, military cargo aircraft, or airlifter is a military-owned transport aircraft used to support military operations by airlifting troops and equipment. Transport aircraft are crucial for maintaining supply lines to forward bases that are difficult to reach by ground or waterborne access, and they can be used for both strategic missions, covering very long distances between major bases, and tactical missions, delivering supplies directly into or near a combat zone.
